Why Leigh Hughes Lehmann?
Leigh is a lifelong Brazoria County resident, having been raised in Alvin, Texas.  She and her husband of sixteen (16) years, Mike, their daughter, Caroline, and their son, Reese, live in Pearland. Active members of their church, First United Methodist, Pearland, Leigh is the lay-leader of the Middle School program, where she teaches Sunday school, attends church and has served on the Board of Trustees, the Staff-Parish Committee and the Women’s Ministries. Serving in the community, Leigh has been a board member of Counseling Connections, is the Vice-President of the Silverlake Lions Club and is active with many local and international charities. A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, she helped found Aggie Sisters for Christ, a Christian service organization, and was an original member of Breakaway, now a campus-wide ministry.

A South Texas College of Law graduate, Leigh has been a practicing attorney for over twenty (20) years. Having taken the bar exam prior to graduating from law school and becoming licensed early, she  began her career in the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure as a prosecutor, she handled misdemeanors, felonies, juvenile cases and the Grand Jury. She was then transferred to the civil division, working as the sole attorney for the child abuse caseload. It was in that job that she truly found a passion of hers, seeking justice for the least and most vulnerable – children.

As a legal professional with an accomplished and varied career, Leigh has the experience, passion, and heart needed to take on the position of judge. She has spent her career seeking justice for others in all types of situations, and with her temperament and dedication to treat everyone with dignity and respect, she will work hard to serve the people of Brazoria County well.
